.Fabric2Go.

I’ve recently discovered a new Aussie online fabric store and am excited to share it with you today:

Fabric2Go is your “go to” store for fabrics and trims. Specialising in gorgeous fabrics and trims produced by Riley Blake, you’ll find a rainbow of awesome designs at amazing prices right here in Australia.
Fabric2Go has a great range of fabrics, including the popular Riley Blake dots and chevrons, each in three different sizes. You’ll also find a great range of laminates and flannels for all of your sewing projects.
If you’re looking for quality solids at an affordable price, there is a huge range of colours to choose from here. As well as a great selection of Shades *almost* solids if you want something with a big more dimension.
Not only does Fabric2Go stock awesome fabrics, they also have a huge selection of Riley Blake’s Sew It Together products including buttons, ric-rac, ribbons, lace and pompom trim
To suit all sewers needs, you have the option of purchasing fabrics by the meter, rolie polies, fat quarter bundles, 10stackers or 5″ stackers.
Take a look around their shop, I’m sure you will fall in love. To make things even easier for you, postage is free within Australia for all orders over $50! And if you order before 2pm AEST, your order will be shipped on the same day. Wondering if what your fabric choices are going to look like when put together? Simply add them to your shopping cart and move them around on the interactive design wall to see what they look like!
I got some lovely fabric from Fabric2Go before Christmas. My polka dot stash was running low so I stocked up on this gorgeous rainbow of medium dots. I use dots a lot in my sewing, they seem to coordinate with everything else and look great when put together.

I also added these flannels to the stash – at $12 a meter, they will be great for some winter sewing.

I’ve got a thing for pompoms at the moment and love this pompom trim too.

Along with each product image, you’ll also find a photograph of the bolts in the range. I find it particularly helpful to see the fabric on the bolt when you are trying to determine the scale of a particular print – something I often struggle with when shopping for fabric online.

Fabric2Go is offering a discount of 15% off all orders placed between now and the 30th January. Simply enter the discount code Make it Perfect during checkout to receive bargain priced fabric!

.Shop Review – ModeS4U.

I was recently sent some fabric and washi tape from a very funky Japanese store – ModeS4U.
ModeS4U specalises in all things cute and Japanese – fabrics, bags, accessories, washi tapes, and stationary. All imported from Japan and the USA. They have free International shipping for orders over US$78! How good is that?
Here is the gorgeous fabric I received – some lovely Nani Iro double gauze and Echino Cars.

I’ve worked with both of these fabrics a lot before, so knew that I would love them. The cars fabric has already been made into a pair of shorts for Oscar. Not sure what the double gauze will end up as yet – perhaps a soft blanket for the baby?

I used my trusty Long Boards pattern for the shorts. The boys love these shorts and both have multiple pairs and it seems that is pretty much all they wear.

The detail in these shorts are what really sets them apart from others, funky and practical knee patches, fake fly stitching and front pockets.  The ribbed waistband makes them super comfy and easy to wear and pull on and off.
Along with the fabric, I was also sent a couple of rolls of washi tape. I love washi tape so have happily added this to my collection! I  use it mostly to wrap presents and stick things up around the house, but there are thousands of creative ideas for using washi tape out there.

Thanks for my goodies, ModeS4U – and for introducing me to another cool online shop!

.Shaukat & Company – Liberty of London.

All good sewers love Liberty of London fabric, right? If you haven’t sewn with them before, save your pennies and choose a favourite pattern because I promise you will not regret it!

Liberty fabrics are more expensive than most other “common” fabrics. But they are worth every penny…135cm wide and luxuriously silky smooth. But still very easy to handle and sew with, they are perfect for all clothing sewing, have spectacular drape and feel amazing against your skin. Also great for sewing quilts and cushions or other homewares that you want to feel as good as they look.

Shaukat, a fabric store based in the UK, sent me a selection of Liberty fabrics for my stash. They are just gorgeous, a little too small to make something for myself, but I plan on sewing a few light and cool skirts and tops for Lil before we go to Queensland in a few weeks time.

Shaukat stocks the entire range of Liberty of London fabrics – and there is A LOT to choose from! From the popular Classic Tana Lawn Cotton to Seasonal Tana Lawn Cottons to oil cloths, and printed jerseys there’s fabric for every occasion.

The best part is that Shaukat offers prices that are the cheapest I’ve been able to find (including postage!) which makes Liberty of London fabric and shopping even more affordable – maybe something to add to the Christmas list?

So, if you haven’t paid them a visit before, be sure to check out the lovelies at Shaukat and get a wish list started! I’ll be sure to share my projects when they are done and have plans to make myself a special Liberty of London dress which will (hopefullly) take me through most of this pregnancy and beyond!

.Suzy Hausfrau.

I knew you guys would love the MillaMia knitting pattern books as much as I do!  It was great to hear that I’m not the only one in a knitting mood at the moment.
Well, today I want to introduce you to a super cool yarn store, Suzy Hausfrau.
I really love coming across an easy to navigate, clearly set out and inspiring online store and Suzy Hausfrau has mastered all of that!  Suzy Hausfrau is based in Canberra, but ships worldwide and stocks a sensational range of yarn, knitting and crochet supplies and patterns.
To entice you even more, Suzy Hausfrau offers FREE postage on all Australian orders and a very generous 10% discount on all orders over $60!!
I was generously sent some gorgeous MillaMia 100% Extrafine Merino yarn to knit up a dress for Lil.  I chose Storm colourway for the dress.  Not like me to go with a neutral colour, is it?  I’m envisioning this looking cool with some really bright stockings and long-sleeved top underneath so thought it would be good to have a basic base-colour for the dress.

This yarn is gorgeous.  It really is super-soft and high quality.  I’ve always been one to encourage others to use the best quality products that you can afford when hand-making clothing.  If you are going to spend hours pouring so much time and effort into the making, you definitley want to use quality products.  I’ve already been scouring through knitting patterns to decide what I’m going to knit with this yarn next!!

MillaMia yarn comes in a great range of colours.  You can see all of them here.

Suzy Hausfrau specialises in selling exquisite yarn sourced around the globe – many of the products in their range have not been stocked in Australia before.  You’ve got to and check out their gorgeous range of BC Garn, Debbie Bliss, Holst Garn and Kalinka Lingarn.  And keep an eye out for new Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett yarns arriving any day now!

Make It Perfect readers are very lucky today – Suzy Hausfrau are giving away $100 gift voucher to spend in their store!!

All you have to do to enter is one or all of the following things…there are four ways to enter and each way is worth a new entry point!  Giveaway closes next Wednesday, 16th May and winner will be drawn randomly.

I don’t know about you, but cold weather makes me want to break out some yarn and get knitting.  I haven’t had a lot of success with knitting in the past (not meaning I’ve had failures, but I just haven’t known where to go for good patterns).  I happened across this book, “Bright Young Things” by MillaMia a few weeks ago.  I couldn’t stop flicking through the pages and was super keen to find some good yarn and knitting needles and get to work!

Lucky me was sent a copy of the book direct from MillaMia to review and share with my readers!
If you’re looking for some modern knitting inspiration, then look no further.  MillaMia’s patterns are amazing – they are stylish and cute, definitley something that I’d want my kids to wear.  I want to knit one of everything for my kids.  The instructions look really clear and easy to follow but lucky for me, my Mum is a super-star knitter so if I get stuck or lose momentum I’ve got technical support right at hand!
My first project is going to be the Pernilla Dress for Lil.  How adorable is it?
Here are some of my other favourites from Bright Young Things:

MillaMia have two other sensational knitting pattern books, “Wonderland” and “The Close Knit Gang” – take a look at some of the lovelies in these books:

MillaMia’s next book, “Little Rascals” is going to be released very soon…the sneak peek is to die for, I can’t wait to see what else is inside!
Word on the street is MillaMia are currently working on launching a collection of knitting patterns for women, which is also very exciting!
So, you’ve got the books but now you need the yarn…MillaMia also provide a superior range of coordination 100% extra fine Merino Wool.  But I’ll tell you more about that in a few days…
MillaMia products are avaliable on their website, or at a large range of stores within Australia and throughout the rest of the world – take a look at their stockist list, here.
