I received this cool surprise in the mail this morning…the big Summer bumper issue of Sew Hip.
Even cooler than getting a free copy of the mag is seeing my design on the FRONT COVER! How funky is that little girl? I’m especially loving her groovy sunnies! They did an awesome job with the photography for this pattern.
Sew Hip is a fresh sewing magazine based in the UK with lots of modern designs and quick and easy projects. Check it out at your newsagent if you haven’t seen it already, its worth a look!
Another yummy recipe for the slow-cooker…(I usually use beef instead of lamb because the casserole beef is way cheaper and I think it tastes pretty much the same after it has been slow-cooked anyway!)
Slow-Cooked Lamb Curry 600g diced lamb/beef 1 large brown onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, crushed 4cm piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated 1 tsp red chilli paste 1/4 cup Indian madras curry paste 270 ml light coconut milk 1 tsp vegetable stock powder 1 dried bay leaf 1 medium bunch spinach, chopped steamed rice, natural yoghurt, pappadums, to serve
Place all ingredients, except spinach in slow-cooker. Stir to combine. Cook, covered for 4 hours. Add spinach and stir. Cook, covered for another 2 hours or until lamb is tender. Remove and discard bay leaf. Serve with rice, yoghurt and pappadums.
Ah, where does the time go? We’re getting lots of smiles, he’s gained 1.3kg (3 pounds) and he loves watching Oscar and Lil play.
I’m up to day 6 dairy-free. I have really surprised myself. I thought it would be terrible and I would have a really hard time sticking to it, but it hasn’t been that bad at all. Yesterday was the first time I felt like chocolate so I made a chocolate slice with dairy-free margarine and it tasted just as good as usual and helped to satisfy my craving! I don’t think we are seeing any results yet, but I’m going to stick with it for 2 weeks and see if there are any permanent changes. Miracle of all miracles though…yesterday Tommy slept for 2 hours! Half an hour in the Baby Bjorn at playgroup this morning, then he stayed asleep in the car and slept for another 1 1/2 hours in bed at home. It was the best! He seriously hasn’t slept for more than 15 minutes at a time for the last 2 weeks so I was in complete shock and got lots of cleaning done. I don’t know if the sleep had anything to do with dairy-free or not, we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the next few days.
The naked photos are from his bath last night, he was trying out some new baby model poses…cute stuff!
We awoke to a big frost this morning. I’m really feeling winter this year, more than I have in ages. Maybe it is because I have been more housebound than usual.
Here are a few of my favourite “winter” pics from Flickr to remind me that winter really is beautiful…
