We have been keeping the Christmas presents behind closed doors for a few weeks. Today I decided it was time to pull them out and see if they lasted long under the tree. So far, so good. I don’t think Lil has even noticed them under there yet – she un-decorates the bottom half of the tree every day, so maybe that is enough distraction for her! Oscar had a little cry when I told him we had to wait 6 more sleeps until he could open them, but he is over it now and on guard every time Lil goes near! It definitley feels a lot more like Christmas now 🙂
Make It Perfect
16 weeks today and starting to poke out…
Sorry for the lack of blogging, I have good intentions but no motivation to do much at all at the moment. I can’t wait to get some energy back and loose the morning sickness which seems to be getting worse as time goes on. Trying to keep the house clean, food in the cupboards and the kids happy is about the extent of my life these days!
I have my first appointment with the hospital today and then lots of fun distractions to get us through the next few weeks…Grandad and Granny have arrived, Filipa and Chris come tomorrow, Christmas, Carli and Winston and more family arrive, big family reunion/holiday, then Ty comes home! Yippee!!
Yesterday I received a copy of Handmade magazine in my letterbox…after months of waiting, two of my designs have been published!
This issue of Handmade has a “Craft 4 Kids” special segment and both of my patterns were a part of this segment.
1. Blossom Skirt – lots of ruffles, frills and twirl-ability…
2. Too Cool for School Pencil Roll – quick and simple to whip up, perfect for easy Christmas presents or getting ready to go back to school!
Oscar was my tag-along to mutual tonight. And happy times did he have…
What 3 year old wouldn’t love being surrounded by 10 teenage girls bowing down to praise every little thing he does. Not to mention being surrounded by plates piled high with lollies and making his very own gingerbread house! According to Oscar when we got home it is his little “gingerbread cubby.”
He totally has those girls wrapped around his little finger, wooing them with charming phrases like “oh, yeah, darling.”
We did a cheats version of the traditional gingerbread house – using Arnotts Milk Coffee biscuits to make the walls and roof. I couldn’t deal with the momentous task of either making gingerbread for all of the girls by my self or trying to get THEM to make it at another activity…too much chatter in one kitchen for me!! We’ll leave that up to another leader another year!
This is going to be a total bragging Mother post.
Oscar has always been into drawing. Many times a day he will fetch himself a pen from the bench and a wad of paper from the desk and settles himself down on the floor or at the table to draw. (Jaron brings scrap paper home from work because we go through so much with Oscar’s drawing sessions!)
Every time Oscar draws something I am completely amazed. He is so talented and puts so much thought and detail into everything he draws. Let me share…
1. This is Harvey. Trains are still the subject of most of Oscar’s drawings. He draws specific trains now though, putting the correct numbers on their bodies and drawing their different facial expressions. Harvey is a train with a crane – see the cool crane he drew?
Have you ever seen the Disney movie, Chicken Little? It was on TV one Saturday night a few weeks ago and Oscar stayed up to watch it. We never spoke about it after watching it, and he hadn’t seen any pictures of the characters anywhere to remind him of it.
Two weeks later, look at what he started drawing:
2. The Chicken:
3. The pig:
4. The goldfish.
When Jaron comes home from work I often have a stack of cool drawings to show him and we oooh and aaah over them! I am finding it hard to throw the really good ones away – any ideas on what to do with a pile of your kids drawings?
