What a great surprise to wake up this morning with an email from Lanie Jane in my inbox…telling me that I had WON this bag she made with fabric from her shop! I am so excited – can’t wait to receive it in the mail! Thanks for your generosity Jane 🙂
Make It Perfect
We have moved, unpacked, de-junked, and are feeling settled into our new place. Before moving I was pretty organised and did lots of strategic packing and sorting and a lot of the clean up in the old house before moving day so it was a lot less stressful and hectic than it could have been. We are loving all of the big windows, natural light and warmth of our new house. The kids are settled and happy and sleeping at night – what more could I ask for??!
Having no internet for a few days made me very aware of the time-waster it can be. I got more done in a day ans ended up with a bit of “me-time” each day. So I have now placed myself on recreational internet restrictions…it will be good for me!
The day before moving I sewed up these two skirts – the pink one, an order for a customer and the yellow one for me! I love it! No, I wasn’t THAT organised that I had sewing time, I just needed a break from looking at the bomb-hit house and didn’t want to deal with it!!
Quilt Market is in about 6 weeks and I’m starting to get really nervous…it is all pulling together, despite major printer issues which will hopefully be ironed out tomorrow when I take it in to be fixed. I wish I could just click my fingers and have everything magically finished and ready for me!

Chocolate and White Chocolate Muffins
2 ½c SR flour
¼c cocoa powder
¾c firmly packed brown sugar
1c white choc bits
90g butter, melted
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 ¼c milk
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl, stir in remaining ingredients. Spoon mixture into 12 muffin pan. Bake in moderately hot (200-210C) oven about 20 minutes.
(**NOTE** The fact that I am about to dedicate a whole blog post to a food processeor is slightly bizzare. Don’t judge me. I was really excited about my idea…I know that at least Mel Corona would share my excitement on this one…)
This is my trusty food processor. I’ve had her for about 5 years (I don’t think a hard-working kitchen appliance can be a “he” – do you?) She has served me well. 1 year and 1 week after I purchased her, she broke. Not badly, but basically the only way to turn her on and off now is by using the power switch on the wall. (Why does something always go wrong ONE week after the warranty expires?) We still get along just fine.
But we have a real “love-hate” relationship. I love the way she makes light work of otherwise tiresome chores, but I hate the fact that I have to retrieve her from a high cupboard, disassemble the parts (I only ever use the chopping blade), put her to work (because she works so hard we only only really need to converse for a minute or two), and then the annoying washing up of all of her little bits and pieces. Wait for those to dry and then reassemble all pieces inside the bowl and place back on high cupboard. What a PAIN!
Last weekend we made chocolate truffles, you know the old-time recipe with crushed biscuits, condensed milk, cocoa and coconut. Yum. But a huge pain getting out the food processor just to crush biscuits for 30 seconds.
Then I had an idea…this is pure genius (if you already do it, don’t tell me, please let me think I am the only person who has ever done this before in the whole wide world, because I’m thinking I am pretty good at the moment!)
Today I got the food processor out, along with 4 packets of biscuits I had purchased on special during the week and I whizzed ALL FOUR PACKETS up! Insane!
Then I located an empty container (Tupperware Modular Mate, to be precise) and filled it up with biscuit crumbs!
Seriously, this is genius and makes me very happy. Now when I need biscuit crumbs all I have to do is weigh the correct amount out and voila! no food processor dismantling or washing up for me! I probably won’t need them for another 6 months, but when I do, I will be prepared!
Carli has cocoa…I have biscuit crumbs…life goes on.
So, I finished the Pinny for Melbourne using Amy Butler’s new Daisy Chain fabric. Veeeery happy with how it turned out!
So, as far as Melbourne goes, I *think* I am on track! 3 of the 4 patterns written up, just finishing off reviewing and testing them. What about the 4th pattern, you ask? Well, this is where I need your help!! The 4th pattern is a top for a woman and I get nervous when writing a pattern for an adult because sizes are so crazy these days! Honestly, I can go into a shop and buy a size 8 top and then go into another and the size 12 fits perfectly! Do you have the same problem? Sizes are definitely not an indication of the actual size of the garment. So…I want my top pattern to be as realistic as possible and conform with the actual size that you are sewing.
I know that I have a lot of female blog readers of different shapes and sizes and am going to have a competition to bribe you to help me!!
So…all you have to do is go to this website which will help you to accurately determine your body measurement. All I need to know is CHEST, WAIST, HIPS.
Then send me an email to toni(at)makeitperfect(dot)com(dot)au and give me these measurements as well as an indication as to what size top you would generally purchase if it were marked “small” “medium” “large” or “x-large”.
That’s it! Easy peasy! But what’s in it for you, you may ask??
Well…I’ll give you until Sunday night to email me your results and then all of my “helpers” will go into a draw to win a copy of this new pattern when it is relased! It really will only take a couple of minutes of your time and I will be forever in your debt if you could help me out!!!
