the answer is no. That is why when Mum said she wanted to knit a cardi for Lil, I encouraged her thoughts along. Isn’t it the sweetest thing? I especially love the hood and all of that detail that has gone into to creating the cable pattern (is that what it is called Mum?). Mum worked so hard on this cardi and even stayed up late the night before Lil’s birthday to have it finished for her in time (so Dad tells me!) – thanks Gramma!!
Make It Perfect
Avid blog readers may have heard about this tragedy already. I won’t go into too much detail as you can read about it yourself via her sister’s blog and many other blogs posting about this.
Last week this beautiful young couple, Stephanie and Christian Nielson were involved in a small aircraft accident and left seriously injured. Stephanie has burns to 80% of her body and is in an induced coma and is expected to take months to recover, while Christian has burns to 30% of his body and will be in hospital for weeks.
Stephanie writes a very fun, popular blog The Nie Nie Dialogues and is a wonderful example of a woman striving for perfection in motherhood and as a wife, she is also a brilliant ambassador for our church and shares our beliefs with the thousands of readers of her blog worldwide.
The story is the cause of my staying up way too late last night and not getting much done today as I have been caught up reading the archives of her blog and feeling so sad for her sweet little children and thinking of the rough road that they have facing them as their parents recover from the accident.
I am so happy that I can do something to help though, something small, but at least I feel as though I can contribute and hopefully my small donation will help get them through some of the rocky road ahead.
Lots of bloggers are setting up silent auctions from their blogs to help raise money for the family which will be used to cover medical expenses and keep their household afloat until they are well enough to carry on with life – it is expected that their medical bills will be in the millions. You can read more about how to set up an auction from your blog here.
One of my favourite blogs is setting up a charity etsy store to help raise money for their family. I am going to be donating some of my patterns to the store and know that many of my blog readers are crafty critters or may have something else they can donate to this worthy cause. Read more about how to become involved with the etsy store here. Or if you don’t have anything to donate you can always shop!
The blog has been extremely neglected this week. I don’t think I have gone a week between posts before. A result of too much fun with Carli and the kids and too much pattern packing and sewing!!
I do have lots of fun and exciting to things I need to blog about so expect lots of little posts this week!
I missed Recipe Monday this week. I have been doing Recipe Monday for well over a year now and I think I am ready to slow it down a bit. I’ll still post recipes from time to time, but not necessarily once a week…just when I feel like it 🙂
Very fun stuff happening yesterday…I’m a bit of a fabric junkie so was very excited to attend the opening day of Selina and Laura’s new store “Fresh Fabric” (the website isn’t up and running yet, but thats the right link.) They have done a fantastic job, I haven’t been into a funkier fabric store in my life! Loads of cool designer fabrics and fun, bright colours. Fresh Fabric is a sister store to Picture Patchwork in Latrobe, focusing more on designer fabrics and patterns and giving people the inspiration to make more than just quilts with all of this delicious fabric around at the moment. Well worth a trip to Deloraine to have a sticky beak…and make some purchases!! I wish I had taken my camera to show you how very cool it is inside…will have to remember it for next time! For now, here is a taste of the fabric with my purchases…some spotty Heather Ross fabric for a new pattern design and “What’s your number” by Alexander Henry. I’m conjuring up some spunky ideas to make that into a single-bed size quilt for Lil.
Another late night for me…I stayed up watching a bit of telly and folding 5 loads of washing. Not all from today, I usually only fold washing once a week when the pile gets so big that it is overflowing from its corner in the lounge room or when I find myself rummaging through it for clean clothes to wear because my cupboard is bare! I can’t watch TV without doing something with my hands, so I usually save it all up for some vegging out, watching time! Went to bed early again last night and I am so glad I did because Oscar came into our room at midnight with wet clothes and had to be changed and then wouldn’t go back to his own bed, so bunked in with us for the rest of the night. He had a high temp and took hours to go to sleep and was rambling about jellyfish licking his cheeks and sharks swimming around him. Weird stuff, I think he may have had a dream and couldn’t get it out of his head!! He hasn’t ever said anything about having a dream before and it is such a hard thing to try and explain…how do they get it??
My fun parcel in the mail today…600 Make It Perfect labels!!
Little pink birdie on one side…
And writing on the other…
I’m thinking they are pretty cute! Will be fun to label all of my creations…any other suggestions because I think its going to take awhile to get through 600!! I ordered them from this very affordable Etsy store. Very quick making and shipping, highly recommend them for anyone wanting some labels.
On another note…last night I went to bed at 7:30pm. Something I have not done forever. For the last month or so bedtime has been closer to midnight and I was really starting to feel it, not to mention my poor family putting up with my tired grumpiness! So after I had read Oscar a story in bed last night I was lying there thinking “gee, it would be nice to just stay here for the night” and I did! (Oscar goes to sleep in our room then we move him to his room later on so that he doesn’t wake Lil when he goes to bed – they share a room.) I had the BEST night sleep too, I thought it would wake up in the middle of the night ready to get up, but I actually slept soundly all night and woke up at 7am the next morning totally refreshed! I have felt great all day today too, not tired at all.
Well, I’m off to do some sewing now and have a play with my new labels!
