.for the love of trains.

When the stake Young Men and Young Women had a service project at the Don River Railway yesterday I just had to take Oscar along.
The youth scrubbed levers until they shined and sanded carriages that were being restored. They were going to be doing some train painting but because of the rainy weather, that bit was canceled. Oscar was in his element wandering around real life-sized trains for a few hours, telling us their names and stories.
And if this isn’t evidence enough of his love for trains…
…falling asleep underneath the big, heavy Complete Collection of Thomas the Tank Engine with a couple of little trains tucked gently beside him!
He LOVES this book, it is huge and has lots of writing and tiny little faded pictures, but he takes it to bed every night and tells himself train stories and reads it for hours each day.

.play week.

We were lucky this week to have a fun visit from Sarah, Taj and Owen while Joe was working in Devonport.

Relaxed days spent chilling out with each other, lots of chatting, trains, cars, playdough, cuddles, the park and lots of laughter and silliness from the big boys.

Oscar and Taj played really well together and even came up with some secret code phrase that they would say and then laugh hysterically at each other! There were a lot of tears from Osc when it came time for them to go home again. Later on that night he looked at me and goes “Taj is Oscars best friend”….so cute!

Lilsy also loved all the attention and has been renamed “Miss Grumps” today as she has been following me around sooking all day long trying to get some love!
I can’t get enough of Owen’s chubby thighs and growling face…he is so cheeky!

.I wish I were Fil.

Just about every Sunday morning when I am getting ready for church, that is the thought that drifts through my head…

She can wear anything, throw on any random combination and looks a million dollars…here’s proof.

.Puzzle Sandwich.

Oscar has a kind Nana who lives in America. She sends us special packages every month full of lots of special treats and surprises. We know she spends a lot of time thinking about the perfect little gifts for each of her grandchildren every month and always tries to send them things that she knows they will love.

She know about Oscar’s love for puzzles and he was so excited this month when the package contained a picture she had photocopied from a magazine showing how to make a puzzle sandwich.

Luckily the package came in the morning and Oscar got to enjoy a yummy jam-puzzle-sandwich for lunch! Look at how happy he was! He ate two puzzle sandwiches that day and since then has requested at least one every day and loves to choose a different shape for the inside each time.

Thanks Nana for the great idea!!! (He even ate the crusts!)
