On our drive to church we go through lots of open faming paddocks. Last Sunday, we were driving along and Oscar exclaims with great excitement from his seat in the back, “Look Mum, look Dad, there’s heaps and heaps of baby dinosaurs!”
We looked in the paddock and saw a huge flock of plovers standing in the grass and cracked up! It had never occured to me that he thought dinosaurs actually existed and roamed around in paddocks just like cows and sheep do!
Perhaps I shouldn’t have answered him with, “Yes Osc, aren’t they cool!” 🙂
Make It Perfect
Exciting news today…after a few weeks of creating, Make It Perfect patterns has it’s very own official website!
I would love to take full credit for it, but that would be lying. Jaron has slaved away getting this baby ready. I would just come by every now and then and say “Yep, thats good” or “No, not like that” and he would accommodate my needs!
So, head on over and check it out…and let me know what you think 🙂
Remember this tree?
It has changed so much over the last few months from a luscious, green, leafy, summer hide away to a crunchy, bare, autumn toned skeleton.
Last week we were lucky enough to spend a few warm moments outside before we brace ourselves for the cold winter chill about to set in.

Way back, more than 6 months ago I bought a Melly & Me Magoo pattern and fabric to make two monkeys. It sat around until last week when I finally got the urge to get cutting and sewing and finished them yesterday.
I love Melly & Me Patterns, always easy to put together. I have tried my hand at creating some soft toy patterns and just don’t have the right brain for it, so I really take my hat off to their skill and creativity!
Aren’t they the coolest? One for Osc and one for Lil. Oscar never really cares for soft toys, but last night he took them both to bed with him.
They are yet to be named, but this one – the boy one is a bit naughty and I found him hanging on the clothes line this afternoon.
Meanwhile this one – the girl one, was being very helpful getting into some gardening out the back.
Yeah well its Thursday…but I’m gonna do it anyway!
This is my easy to put together, scrum-diddly-umptious fried rice recipe.
Easy Fried Rice
1 1/2 cups long grain rice
2 1/2 cups water
4 large eggs
2 tsp soy sauce (more if desired)
several drops sesame oil
100ml light vegetable oil
1 large carrot
3cm piece ginger
2 cloves garlic
1 small onion
2 sticks celery
100g green beans
4 rashers bacon
1/2 cup corn kernels
50g beans sprouts
1 Tbs soy sauce
2 tsp sesame oil
fresh sliced spring onions to garnish
Wash rice throughly, drain and place in large microwave safe dish. Cook uncovered on High for 12 minutes or until cooked. Rinse under cold water to cool. Drain well.
Whisk eggs, soy sauce and sesame oil. Heat 2tsp oil in wok until slightly hazy and add 1/4 of the egg mixture. Swirl around the base of the wok and cook 20 seconds or until the omelette is golden on the underside. Turn over and cook about 8 seconds. Remove and repeat with remaining mixture until you have 4 omelettes. Roll up, thinly slice and set aside.
Peel the carrot and ginger, then peel the whole carrot into small thin shreds. Crush the garlic and finely chop the ginger, onion, celery, beans and bacon.
Return wok to heat and add 3 tsp oil and reheat. Stir fry garlic, ginger, onion and bacon for 1-2 minutes or until softened. Add the beans, celery, corn and carrot. Stir fry for 2 minutes or until just tender. Remove from wok. Add another 1 1/2 tbs oil and reheat. Add rice and stir fry for 2 minutes. Return vegetables and bacon mix to the rice and toss well.
Add bean shoots, cover wok with lid and heat 30 seconds. Add soy sauce, sesame oil and toss.
Serve garnished with sliced omelette and spring onions.
