Aargh! Having internet connection issues…turns out my internet server reckons I haven’t paid my bill since February and have barred my internet connection! I know that I pay every fortnight though and we worked out that I have been paying into the wrong account for three months! (We can still blame this on baby brain…at least until baby turns one!) So the moneys are being transferred and as soon as everything is cleared (3 or so days) I will be back online.
Such a pain. But is has been good to have some non-internet time at home and catch up on some things with the house and kids.
So until you hear from me next time…I am still alive!
Every time I make another pinny I declare it to be my favourite…but this one certainly takes over in the favourite department. I am totally addicted to Amy Butler’s Midwest Modern range. I try so hard to choose something else…but can’t help myself, I am smitten!
So this is the latest pinny, using my Pinny #2 pattern and in a size 1, of course, ready for Lil’s first birthday!
life with a 9 1/2 month old means cooking and mashing concoctions of fruit and vegies about once a fortnight. i choose not to feed my babies any food from a jar or can unless we happen to be away on holidays. i love the taste of homemade baby food, so does lil. we put lots of weird and wonderful things together for her, trying to encourage her to like the foods we eat as a family so that when she is eventually able to, she can eat meals with us. so until then, its peeling, chopping, mashing and freezing once a fortnight…
Ooooh, I’m very excited…about something…but I can’t say much….here’s a sneak peek for you… What I CAN say is that I submitted a new pattern design to Homespun Magazine and was accepted! So a cool new pattern featuring natural linen (falling in love with linen at the moment) and some funky Sandi Henderson meadow water lily fabric…and thats all I can say! The pattern won’t be featured until February 2009…I know, crazy, long time away, but thats apparently how the magazine industry works. Anyway, I can still get excited about it! Look out for another blog post February 2009 when it is published…or better still, run out and get yourself a copy of the mag and sew one up for yourself!
Recipe Monday just wouldn’t be complete without these to die for breadsticks. My friend Jackie taught me how to make them and everyone I have made them for LOVES them!
.Jackie’s Famous Breadsticks. 7g sachet dried yeast 1 1/2c warm water 2 Tbs sugar 3c plain flour 1 tsp salt 150g butter, melted garlic and herb seasoning (no added salt) sea salt fresh grated parmesan cheese
Mix yeast, warm water and sugar together in a small bowl and leave to stand for 10 minutes – should go frothy. Place flour and salt into a large bowl. Mix water mixture into flour mixture and knead on a floured board until soft and smooth. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover and leave in a warm spot until doubled in size. Brush a large baking tray (with sides) generously with some of the melted butter. Turn dough onto a lightly floured board and knead lightly. Cut off small chunks of dough and roll out thinly into a long, skinny rectangle. Cut into 1″ strips, fold in half, stretching slightly and twist into breadstick. Place in pan. Let twists sit close to each other. Leave to rise and double in size. Brush tops of breadsticks generously with remaining melted butter. Sprinkle with seasoning, salt and parmesan cheese. Bake in moderate oven until lightly browned, about 20 – 30 minutes.
(Or if you prefer the cheats version, do the first kneading and rise in your breadmaker!)
