Make It Perfect, Shearwater Kaftan

.MIP Pattern Parade: SKIRT AS TOP.

I love a bit (well, a lot) of selfish sewing – it’s fun to sew for the kids but really, sewing something for yourself that you will actually wear is such a satisfying feeling! And knowing that it is going to fit you for more than a year is good motivation to put in the effort too!! When my Pattern Parade girls were selecting their patterns to sew, over three-quarters of them picked women’s patterns!
Today Kristin from Skirt As Top joins us in the parade – I’ve been reading Kristin’s blog for awhile now and I love her style. She is a mother of three and sews a lot for her children, but lately Kristin’s selfish sewing has escalated and it looks as though she has caught the bug!! (Not a bug that you want to get rid of though!)
Kristin is modelling a beautiful Shearwater Kaftan that she made with this dreamy Nani IRO double gauze. I know from Shearwater Kaftan + double gauze combo experience that it only gets better with time and will end up being a very well worn shirt. Say hello to Kristin and read more about her experience with sewing her Shearwater Kaftan. Kristin is also hosting a giveaway to win a Make It Perfect PDF pattern so make sure you enter today!

She sews like crazy for herself and her daughter and everything she makes has a carefree and comfortable look to them. Aside from being a talented seamstress, Sanae is also a super talented artist – you will see her beautiful watercolour illustrations popping up all over her blog and she is currently illustrating a children’s book!

Visit Sanae’s blog to see more of the Coastal Breeze dress she has made for herself for the parade -isn’t it pretty? You can win a Make It Perfect PDF pattern too!

Make It Perfect, Poppy Tunic

.MIP Pattern Parade: PROBABLY ACTUALLY.

Gail from Probably Actually is one of my favourite sewing bloggers. I would describe her clothing sewing as “understated elegance” – she has a knack for mixing just a little print with some pretty solid and ending up with a wow-factor garment every time. Sometimes I think I need to take a lesson from this kind of style and not go so crazy with print and pattern all the time!!

Gail’s precious daughter Lila is showing off her brand new Mini Poppy in the Pattern Parade today and once again Gail has got her magic fabric combinations happening! Pop over and visit Probably Actually and enter to win a free Make It Perfect PDF pattern. Oh, and while you’re there, tell Gail to bite the bullet and get sewing for herself…I can only imagine the beauties she would come up with!!

Essential Shorts, Make It Perfect

.MIP Pattern Parade: NOODLEHEAD.

Entering the Pattern Parade today is a girl who always inspires me…every time I read her blog I get that “ooh, I want to make that” feeling!  If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you’ll know who Anna from Noodlehead is. Everything she touches turns into a work of art. Anna designs great bag patterns too – a few of which I’ve tried out over the last few years. Here, here and here.

Anna has chosen to sew herself a pair of Essential Shorts for the Pattern Parade – aren’t they the cutest? And in double gauze too, I can only imagine how lovely the feel on. Ah…all these photos of people wearing Summer clothes while we are in the middle of Winter are making me jealous! Visit Anna on her blog to see more great photos of her Essential Shorts – I love them!

Frothy Skirt, Make It Perfect

.MIP Pattern Parade: Glitter + Wit.

Tasha of Glitter + Wit (formerly I Seam Stressed) is with us today on the Pattern Parade tour. Tasha sews beautiful clothing for her children that are not only lovely to look at but fall into the “everyday wearable” category – something that I think is important to do if you are sewing a lot of clothing for your kids. Nothing worse than spending all that time on something that won’t be worn!

For the Pattern Parade, Tasha has whipped up a Frothy Skirt for her cute little girl. I know I play favourites a lot, but the Frothy Skirt is at the top of my list of girl’s patterns for a few reasons. It’s really quick and easy, but a little more “special” than a basic elastic waist skirt and most importantly – it will be worn over and over and over again! Visit Glitter + Wit to see more of this cheery Frothy Skirt!
