Thanks for all the Dinohunt Quilt Pattern competition entries.
I know I could have found some technical random number generator thing on the internet and let that pick my winner for me…but sometimes doing things the “old-fashioned-way” is fun!
So the entries were cut up and folded and put in a big blue box…
And the winner is…. Anna Cullis! I know I probably have your address kicking around here somewhere, but email it to me when you get the chance and I will post you your pattern!
(Oh, and Simone, I’m glad that you didn’t win because from your comment it seems you thought I was giving away the actual quilt…and you would have been quite disappointed to find a measly little pattern in your letterbox! Hehehe, you always make me laugh!!)
Awhile ago I was searching for a good kiss biscuit recipe after my failed attempt.
I had some great recipes shared with me, all of them quite similar, so it seems I was the only one with the dodgy recipe!! Its been awhile since I made these, I think they might be on the agenda again soon.
Nanna Cooper’s Kiss Biscuits 1/4lb butter 2 eggs 1 tsp cream of tartar 1 cup sugar 2 cups plain flour 1/2 tsp bicarb soda
Beat the butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add sifted flour, cream of tartar and bicarb soda. Roll out thin and cut into shapes. (To get them thin and not risk breaking them when transferring them to the tray, I rolled the mixture between two sheets of baking paper, peeled off the top sheet and cut my shapes on the bottom sheet. Then took away the excess mixture, leaving the shapes on the bottom sheet and slid that sheet onto the baking tray – does that make sense?!!) Bake in a quick oven until light brown…not really sure what that meant, but I put them in a moderate oven and checked them till I thought they were ready! Stick together with raspberry jam and ice tops.
First of all, its time for the release of Make It Perfect’s seventh pattern!
Pattern #7: Dinohunt Quilt
This is a baby quilt like no other. Not only will it keep your precious one warm as they sleep and snuggle wrapped tightly in handmade love, it will also grow with your baby, becoming a place to play and dream.
Your baby will find great delight in exploring the ruffled strips on the quilt and discovering the hidden dinosaur prints underneath.
As your baby grows, his or her imagination will be stretched as the dinosaur pockets at the bottom of the quilt will turn into garages for cars to be parked in, caves for animals to roam, beds for dolls to sleep and a special place to hide treasures or to safely tuck a favourite toy into.
The pockets are also perfect to hold pyjamas, books and that special toy neatly on the bed, giving your older child somewhere to keep bedtime necessities and helping them to take responsibility for tidying up!
(p.s. little girls like dinosaurs too!!)
Dinohunt Quilt looks gorgeous and is sure to be a treasured quilt. Its simple to make and comes with pattern pieces, full instructions and a colour photograph. The inspiration for this quilt came from my nephew Mason. My Mum makes each of her grandchildren a baby quilt when they are born and Mason became so attached to his. It wasn’t just a blanket to be wrapped in, Mason’s quilt went everywhere with him and he had hours of fun playing with his toy animals and cars with his quilt nestled snugly around him, making houses and caves for his little friends.
The second announcement is that you will soon be able to purchase my patterns from Duckcloth and Calico & Ivy. I have added their stores to my stores list to the right, their patterns are in transit at present, but should be in stock ready for ordering very soon!
And the THIRD (and probably most exciting for you) announcement, is that I am going to have a GIVEAWAY!!!
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and one lucky person will win a free Dinohunt Quilt pattern.
The deadline for leaving a comment is midnight on Monday 21st April and I will choose a winner randomly (the old pick a name out of the hat trick!) and announce it on Tuesday morning! So…get on with it, leave a comment!
Our garden delights us once again with some more delicious produce! We started out with raspberries, followed by apricots, peaches and now feijoas.
They grow on two big bushes outside our front door and are a most unusual fruit. You cut them in half and scoop out the flesh like a kiwi fruit, or you can cut off one end and suck the flesh out (Oscar’s preferred way of eating them!). They are super sweet and have a slightly gritty texture. Oscar loves going outside to collect the ripe ones as they fall off the bushes.
Yummo!
P.S. I just gave some to Lil and she loved it…she ate 6!!!
