.sleep over.

Sleepovers for little boys are sooo much fun! Mason had a sleepover last night and the boys were very excited. The evening began with a bit of basketball and bike riding, then Aunt Carli and Maya came for a visit while Jaron and I went for a swim (it was 8pm and DIVINE!).
So, bed time…the boys both slept in Oscar’s room and loved having LOTS of stories read to them by Jaron, when it came time to turn out the lights and go to sleep…well that was a whole other story! Oscar decided to spit it and cried and carried on for Jaron or I to lie down with him. He has been doing this lately at bedtime and we have been trying to ignore it hoping that it will go away! Poor old Mason was sooo tired and just wanted to go to sleep and kept saying “please be quiet baby Oscar, I want to go to sleep!” So after about half and hour Jaron got Oscar out of bed and I sat with him in the spare bed. Mason appears soon after telling us that he isn’t sleepy anymore so he came in the spare bed too! It just wasn’t working, they were determined not to go to sleep, so at 10pm Jaron took Oscar into our bed and Mason fell asleep in the spare bed and I carried two sleeping boys into their own beds at 10:30pm! Fun, fun…thats how sleep overs are supposed to be, right – trying to get as little sleep as possible?! I think we (parents) still have a lot to learn in the sleep over department! To top things off, they both woke up at 6:30am – which is unheard of in our house…but they are happy!
Meanwhile, this little miss was being as adorable as ever…5 months old now.

.They are here!.

Much to our delight, Carli, Mason, Maya and Baby Kayla arrived on our doorstep on Tuesday. There has been lots of noise and fun playing since. Little Kayla is 5 weeks younger than Lil and she is HUGE! Longer than Lil by about 10cm. She is such a sweetie. Mason and Maya have both grown older too. The last time we saw them was in May.
Yesterday we went to the beach in the afternoon – it was around 5pm and we went swimming. So so so nice and warm. The kids were all petrified of the thousands of little crabs scurrying along the beach.

.Oscar Draws.

Oscar went through a phase where he wanted us to draw for him ALL THE TIME! He would always instruct us to draw trains (surprise, surprise!) or faces…looks like our hard artistry work has paid off because he has started drawing his own faces now. We were so surprised when he first did it, he still does lots of scribbles, but also talks about what he is drawing. Very cute.We are hanging out this morning waiting for Carli to arrive with Mason, Maya and Michaela…horray for playmates for two whole weeks!

.Recipe Monday.

Raspberry and Malteaser Icecream Cake

2 litres vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
1 packet malteasers, crushed lightly
300g fresh or frozen raspberries

Place ice cream into a large bowl, stir through malteasers and raspberries. Work fairly quickly, do not let the ice cream melt.

.Regatta.

Such a beautiful day today…every January there is a Regatta at the beach by our house, it was on today so we took a walk down to it this morning to check it out. Lots of entertainment for the kids – FREE shows for them to watch, FREE crafts, drawing with chalk on the pathway and face painting, jumping castles and rides. Lots of yummy food and races going on at the beach all day long.
This is how Lil spent most of the morning…
We were so hot by the end of it so when we got home Mum came and watched the kids for an hour while Jaron and I went for a swim at the beach….oh it was so so so nice! The waves were big today (by my standard anyway!) so lots of fun to play and splash around in. LOVE IT!
