Make It Perfect
My lovely friend, Janelle Wind was one of my pattern testers for A+ Skirts. I was keen to find a pattern tester who would be able to test the skirts on a “tween” as it is the first time I have designed a pattern for that age/size and needed to make sure I was on the right track. Lucky for me, Janelle was excited to sew up a skirt for herself as well so I got to get feedback from both perspectives.
Here is Janelle’s skirt. Hasn’t she done a marvelous job? I LOVE the fabric she has chosen – perfect for saying hello to spring. Apart from the skirt being so awesome (this is View A, by the way) I am also love, love, loving Janelle’s whole outfit – very spunky!!

Excuse us for a couple of days as we head over to Melbourne.
First stop, business calls as we meet up with some clients (and old friends) to talk house design.
Second stop. IKEA for some serious shopping that will be delivered to our door in a week or so. Need I say more?
With all of the excitement of Cool Shops! introductions and new patterns being released, I haven’t had a chance to let you know of some new products I have recently added to my Citrus pOp Etsy and Made It stores.
I’m looking forward to wearing my new MINI earring range when I get my ears pierced. Quite a few of these earrings have sold out now, but I’ll be restocking all the colours in the next week or so. These earrings are really cute – big enough to be seen, but not totally “out there” if you like a more subtle look. They are also great for little girls!
After many requests, I’ve managed to make up a few new necklaces too. Including a few new styles…
And some new hair pin styles, including the monochromatic range such as this lovely white set…

Oooh, my mouth is watering just looking at these photos! I have always loved hummus, but since I started making my own from scratch I love it even more. I have stocked the pantry with cans of chickpeas and find myself making this all the time. The only problem is that Jaron doesn’t like it and won’t come near me for about 12 hours after I have eaten it because of my stinky garlic breath – hehe!
Hommus
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1-3 cloves of garlic (depending on how much you like garlic…I lean more towards 3!)
50ml olive oil
2 Tbs tahini paste
1 tsp ground cumin
juice of 1 lemon
water
salt & pepper
Place the chickpeas, garlic, olive oil, tahini paste, cumin and lemon juice in a food processor and process until well combined. (Because it is such a small amount, I use the food processor attachment that came with my stick blender and it works a treat!)
Add a few tablespoons of water and process until really smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
At this point I taste the hummus and usually add a bit more lemon juice if it is a little bland. Sometimes a little extra salt and pepper too. Depending on the day and how juicy your lemon is, you might need to add some more water to make a smooth and “dippable” consistency. You don’t want it to be too thick, but you don’t want it runny either. Make sure you process it heaps until it is really smooth and creamy.
Yummo! Enjoy with crackers, vegie sticks, on sandwiches or just off the spoon 🙂
The boys in the house might not think it is that good, but at least the girls approve 🙂
