.Pattern Testers Needed!.

This post is for anyone who might be interested in doing some pattern testing for Make It Perfect patterns…

As my size range and variety of patterns is ever changing, I need to have a wide range of testers to call upon for different patterns.  If you are interested in becoming a pattern tester, please send me an email or leave a comment on this blog post with your email address and I’ll send through some information and a questionnaire for you to answer.

Have a great Wednesday!

P.S. Happy for international testers 🙂
P.P.S. Have you pinned lately?  Here are some things I am crushing…

I’m envisioning an embroidery hoop welcome display in our entrance…need to find time for some stitching!

.March Cool Shops! FUNKY FABRIX.

I’m excited to share our very last Cool Shop! for March with you…Funky Fabrix!

Funky Fabrix is located in Brisbane, Australia and has been around since 2004.  They initially started specialising in retro, vintage fabrics and have quickly grown to incorporate a wide range of fantastic fabrics and other sewing supplies.  As well as running a successful online store, Funky Fabrix also have a great “bricks and mortor” retail store in Mitchelton, QLD – so if you are in the area, make sure you pop in and say hello!

I had a great time playing around with a couple of “Make Your Own Bunting” kits that from Funky Fabrix sent to me.  These kits are a bargain – you get a pre-printed panel of fabric complete with easy instructions guiding you through making your own bunting.  I know that making a bunting isn’t exactly rocket science – but these kits are brilliant for first time sewers who might be a little nervous to make something entirely from scratch.  They are also great for a more advanced sewer – I loved the fact that I could have the whole bunting finished in less than half an hour and all I had to do was make up some binding to connect it together with (and if I was REALLY lazy I could have just used ribbon!)

The buntings are printed on a lovely lightweight cotton in simple designs making it perfect for both children and adults, males and females.  A very versatile decoration that I know will get good use around here!  I chose not to hem the edges of my bunting and cut around the pieces with pinking shears instead as I was running short on time and knew that it wasn’t going to be handled much so wouldn’t fray.  Isn’t it fab?!

Funky Fabrix also sells a large range of designer cotton fabric, lovely linens, cosy flannels, designer knits, trendy home dec fabrics, sewing books and patterns and more!

One of the things that I really like about Funky Fabrix is that they specialise in organic cottons (something we are seeing more and more of these days) and original vintage fabrics.

I have mentioned on my blog before how much I love this Birch Marine Organic fabric range:

And I am loving this Circa 60 Happy Campers range too (with a few pure organic solids thrown in):

This range is an oldie but a goodie and one I will never get sick of.  Gorgeous Monaluna Organic:

Check out some of the original vintage fabric you can purchase at Funky Fabrix…most of this fabric is dated around 1950-1970 and is brand new, straight off the bolt!

If you love a bargain, head to Funky Fabrix now as they are offering 15% off all purchases to Make It Perfect readers!
(Simply mention the code COOLSHOPS during checkout.)

For those of you living in, or visiting, Brisbane – make sure you pay Funky Fabrix a visit sometime soon.  They are moving stores this week, but their new store opens on the 2nd April.
Their address is:
Shop 4/12 Blackwood St
Mitchelton
QLD 4051

.Ikabags.

I don’t think I have mentioned it on my blog yet, but we were lucky enough to win the Rikrak Studio Handmade Olympics in the “Fave Nicies” category for coordinating the Queensland Flood Auctions.  We won some lovely prizes – my sister got to spend $50 at this Etsy store and I got a $50 voucher to spend at Ikabags – an amazing France-based Etsy store selling gorgeous bags.
It was REALLY hard to narrow down my very favourite, they have heaps of lovely bags to choose from.  I finally settled on this green and white striped beauty though – Stockholm in Green Apple.

My bag arrived in the mail last week and I was SO impressed.  These bags do not look handmade at all.  They are made from thick, high-quality cotton and lined with water-resistant tent canvas – making them really strong and sturdy.  I didn’t get a good pic of the inside, but it is full of pockets and big enough to use as a day-to-day bag without feeling like you are carrying around half the house!

So if you are looking for a quality, handmade bag – I highly recommend Ikabags.  Thankyou Feyza, you made my day 🙂

.Winners winners winners!!.

Seems I have been a little slack with announcing winners of late!

Our charity auction for Save the Children Japan finished last night.  Lisa of This and That from Japan and I am so happy with the final result of $200 and would like to thank all of those who supported the cause.  Congratulations to Mari for placing the winning bid!!

I know that often auctions quickly escalate higher than many people can afford.  If you would like to make a donation to Save the Children Japan, visit the website.  If you are in need of some new fabric (um…who isn’t?!) then head over to This and That from Japan and make a purchase – Lisa is donating 15% of all sales to the cause.

If you would like to donate a handmade or new soft toy to be given to a child who has lost everything, there is a great toy drive being run by PottymouthmamaClick here for more details.

And the winners of the Chasing Cottons pattern giveaway are…
