I have been wanting to update my pattern covers for a while now, but thinking about it and actually doing it are two very different things! So, I decided to enlist the help of a professional who I knew would do it quick and would do it just how I wanted it.
Aren’t they just perfect? I am loving them…Chels took such awesome photos…it took me forever to finally make my decide which ones to use!
So, here they are…Pinny and Pinny #2 in all their newly updated glory… And if you are looking for a brilliant photographer, head over to Chelsea’s website and give her a call!
Sift flour into a bowl. Whisk milk and eggs together in a jug. Add milk mixture to flour. Whisk until well combined. Spray a medium, non-stick frying pan with oil. Heat over medium heat. Pour 2 1/2 tablespoons batter into pan. Swirl to cover base. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until light golden. Turn over and cook for 1 minute. Transfer to a plate. Cover to keep warm. Repeat with remaining batter. To keep crepes warm, preheat oven to 100 degrees celcius. Place crepes, covered with foil, in oven until required. Serve with berries and cream.
This year Mum and Dad turn 110. Dad was 60 last month and Mum is 50 next month. It is not every year that we get to celebrate such a momentous occasion, so this year we decided to have a bit of a bash and get some friends together to wish them well. We went out for dinner to Villarett Gardens and had a nice relaxing night hanging out with friends and family.
Carli and Michaela came down for the night so it was fun to spend a bit of time with them too. I think Oscar was a bit sad that his bigger play-mates, Mason and Maya weren’t able to come too! Of course, no party is complete without Dad performing a few numbers on his guitar…whether the audience wanted it or not! Before the party Dad told Oscar that he was bringing some drums for Oscar to play along on, and as soon as Dad started playing and singing, Oscar remembered Dad;s promise and pulled out the drums and kept the beat. He was really cute and excited until he realised that 70 pairs of eyes were staring at him, cheering him on, and then he went a bit shy and wouldn’t look at anyone, but he kept beating his drum the whole time! (I think Dad may have been a little put off, with Oscar stealing all of his thunder!!) Look at Lilsy below, having a clap and dance to the music! I did a terrible job at taking photos of everyone, and the ones I did get weren’t very good. I need to get out my camera manual and try and learn how to take decent night time/indoors photos, because mine always turn out bad! And look how much these two little possums are growing up…remember the last fewtimes they were together? Now they are crawling and standing and playing around. Such little cuties!
5 weeks later, I finally plucked up enough courage to take the plunge and colour my hair!
I decided to do it at home, but instead of picking a dye willy-nilly at the supermarket, I went to a hairdresser that was connected to a hair product shop and spoke to one of the hairdressers there about which home dye would be the best and got her to help me choose a colour which would work well on my hair. We went for a dark blonde semi-permanent, so I’m not sure how long it is going to last, but I wasn’t ready to go with a permanent straight away…just incase!
I am really happy with how it has blended the regrowth, you can still tell its there if you are really looking, but its no where near as noticeable as it was with the blonde.
Aunty Denise is visiting from Queensland, staying with Mum at the moment. She put the colour in for me and did a great job.
So, I am finally satisfied and no longer feel like I have gross hair when I go out in public!
So, this afternoon I have been sewing. Its all going smoothly, but now its button hole time. And button hole making requires a clear head, so I’m putting it down and blogging for a bit ’cause I want nice button holes. You know, the good thing about button holes is the button hides them. But I still want nice button holes.
I’ve been thinking a bit about nicknames lately, well today while I was sewing anyway, I always seem to have random thoughts when I am sewing. They’re important, nicknames, the nice ones anyway!
My Pop called me “Midget” when I was small. He called me Midget because I was little.
My Dad called me “Bob” for a long time because my hair was cut in a bob-style.
When I was a bit older, maybe around 9 or 10, I was christened with “Queenie. Dad was a flower farmer when we were growing up and we spent our days working in the flowers – planting, weeding, picking, watering, bunching, packing. All of the neighbourhood kids and teenagers would also spend their weekends and school holidays a working in the flowers. At the time we thought we had the worst jobs around, but looking back I can see that we learned the value of hard work and also formed relationships with family members and friends we worked with. One day we were sorting out bulbs and me, being the bossy bosses daughter, decided that I would take charge and start telling the older boys to quit mucking around and get to work – resulting in the nickname Queenie! That nickname has stuck, and I am still called it from time to time by friends and family of my era.
I was called “Marsha,” after Marsha from the Brady Bunch by my brothers and sisters. I don’t really know why.
We called Oscar, Smidge while I was pregnant with him and that stuck for about a year after he was born. He was just a little “Smidge” on the ultrasound picture.
Lil is “Willsy” because thats what Oscar calls her.
So if you don’t have anything to blog about at the moment, how about a post about your nicknames? I would love to hear them!
Look at Miss Lil today, standing all by herself! Not the best shot of her, the light is terrible today, all overcast outside and our house isn’t the lightest of houses anyway, hence the out of focus photo. Her head also looks very large in comparison with her body…I don’t think she looks like that in real life. Not that I have noticed before anyway, she is a chubba though. I better go check 🙂And one last thing…how awesome is this artist? He takes a piece of your child’s artwork and turns it into a photograph! I LOVE it!Alright, off to bath the kids and then I think I’m safe to tackle the button holes!
