Recipe Monday

So, I have decided that every Monday I am going to post a favourite recipe of mine just for something to do and because I love to cook!

This week’s recipe has some history behind it…my late Grandmother (Marie Parsons) passed this recipe onto her daughter, my Mum, who has since passed it onto me. They are simple and basic, but sometimes thats just what you need – the kind of recipe that you can whip up in a minute and always have all of the ingredients to.

Raw Peanut Biscuits
4oz butter
1c sugar
1 egg
1t vanilla
2c SR flour
Âūc raw peanuts

Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla, continue beating until light and fluffy. Stir in flour and peanuts. Dough will be very firm. Roll mixture into balls and place on greased tray. Bake in moderate oven until golden on bottoms. Usually takes about 15 minutes in the oven.

I did half of my batch with peanuts and the other half with choc chips because I knew Jaron would like the choc chips and didn’t think Oscar is quite ready to tackle whole raw peanuts yet!

ENJOY!!!

Ugly Cat

Yesterday I had that “gotta sew something” urge…the result?

Meet Ugly Cat…

She is ugly, but she is taking up permanent residence on the couch in our loungeroom. I actually got the pattern for free (wonder why?!) from Amy Butler’s website (see link to right), it was really easy to make, took less than an hour. The fabric is special, from Old Granny’s stash (that sounds mean, but it isn’t – our affectionate name for my late Grandmother, Marie Parsons) so it has sentimental value.

I kind of like Ugly Cat, Jaron kind of likes Ugly Cat, Oscar likes to play “peek-a-boo” with Ugly Cat, so she is staying! 🙁 So far, no one else seems to be taken with her 🙁
Orders being taken for your very own Ugly Cat now…

The last of Summer

My friend Marnie had this awesome photo on her blog of her very spunky son Denver eating watermelon in their back yard last week on a hot, muggy day – I just couldn’t resist having a play around with it and making the photo black and white and leaving the watermelon in colour – its probably one of the last days of proper summer that we are going to have now that autumn is really starting to set in here…

And we received a photo of Ty with his mission president and wife, President and Sister Arden yesterday. He has been in Fiji for about 2 weeks now and is hot and loving it! Had his first (impromptu) baptism last weekend and is learning heaps.

The Green Machine plays with Daddy

Last night we were trying to get some pics of Oscar in his new fluro green PJS, but he just wouldn’ sit still! So what started out as a quiet evening turned into a major wrestling match with Dad!
