Chocoholic…

Not me…I’m not a chocoholic…really…but when I go to the best Cadbury outlet store ever in Melbourne I just can’t help myself! This place kicks the Hobart Cadbury factory – you can’t do tours and not just anyone can go into the shop, you have a have a special pass. The only people who can get passes are people that work there or people who are part of a non-profit organisation…so my Mother in Law has a pass for the Melbourne Mission! She is allowed to take one friend every time she goes. We stocked up on lots of yummy easter eggs and scorched almonds and the favourite Summer Roll bar – a 5kg box, unwrapped, but otherwise fine, for $8!!! There are 250 bars there – what we are going to do with them all, I don’t know…I just hope they last for awhile!!!

We said our goodbyes to Nana and Grandie yesterday . This was going to be our last trip to Mebourne before the end of the mission, but while we were over there we planned another one for the end of April when Jaron’s parents have to go to Sydney for a week fo a Mission Presidents Seminar. So we are going to go and care for the kids. Not that they need much caring for, but any excuse for another holiday! This will mean we have been to Melbourne each month since December!!

TY HAS ARRIVED!!! We received an email from Elder Triffitt yesterday saying:
“Hello. I’m at the mission home signing my life away. About to have interview with presdient. We have our orientation tomorrow and find out where I go then. Pday is Monday so thats when I’ll check email next.
Love you Elder Triffitt
Still raining but warm”
So hopefully we will find out where his first area is and what he thinks of Fiji in the next week or so. He was so excited to finally leave the MTC and get into the mission field, I can’t wait to hear mission stories from him now. If you want to write to him, his email address is: ilovemymum11@myldsmail.net or the mission address is: Fiji Suva Mission, GPO 215, Suva Fiji.
A few photos I meant to post a while ago of him in Provo at the MTC.

Playing in the snow….the last chance he will have to feel cold for the next 2 years!

With his companions Elder Tira and Elder Soon at the Visitors Centre at the SL Temple. (They were the only 3 going to Fiji in the MTC and so were in a 3-way companionship). I’m sure they will really miss each other in Fiji when they have to part.

lazy saturday

Alright, some Melbourne photos…
It was HOT yesterday and we had a nice lazy Saturday at home. Filled up the little wading pool for Oscar and he had a play in the water – very very irresponsible parents – he is sunburned today! We did put sunscreen on him…twice, but it didn’t work for some reason. Poor little man, it doesn’t seem to bother him though. Jaron is always out to try and get a tan on a hot day, so, these are my boys having fun in the sun (note the nice, brown, water restricted grass) –

Oh to have a big, annoying brother… what started out as a little bit of innocent fun with some water turned into World War 3! Ashleigh being wasted by Jaron – although she did get him good during the day when he was least expecting it!!!

Boys will be boys – Jaron convincing his Dad and Spenser to buy an macbook! And Jaron at the Motor Show – highlight of his trip – thought I should put it in there even thought it is of no interest to me whatsoever!

And lastly…every pregnant woman has those midnight cravings (or at least a good excuse to blame bad eating on!) – this Sara Lee Rocky Road icecream is totally to die for, highly recommend. Ummm…it wasn’t for me, it was for the baby! And Whitney….

Once again….across the sea…

I am having an urge to blog, its late Saturday night and I should go to bed…
We are in Melbourne again visiting with Jaron’s parents. We are so blessed to be able to see them so much – this is our third trip in 3 months! But will probably be the last one for awhile seeing as Jaron is back at uni now and we need to settle down into a more consistent routine.
So far we have really just been shopping – our favourite Melbourne activity! We save all of our shopping up for our trips here and only buy what we have to in Tassie. The variety is great and there are soooo many bargains. We always find plenty of great buys. The factory outlets are fantastic.
Oscar is having a wonderful time. It is so nice, he LOVES the space – this house is huge and he has so much to explore and discover. He is so tired every night and sleeps beautifully! Plus he has 5 extra adults at his beckon call and there is always someone to play with him or get him food or do whatever it is that he wants to do so badly – he loves the piano and playing on the computer (we don’t let him touch the computer at home, so this is heaven to him!) and he is a massive animal abuser – poor Buffy the cat gets a beating and hasn’t laid a paw on him yet.
Anyway, I have taken some photos and want to post them but will have to do that tomorrow when I get them off the camera…..
Thats all for now.

carrot cheese parsley

Alright…time for a little cooking lesson – this is my absolute FAVOURITE sandwich ever…if you haven’t tried it, have a go. Don’t underestimate the taste of carrot, cheese and parsley (and don’t bag it until you have tried it!!)

STEP 1: Gather your ingredients – carrot, cheese, parsley from Dad’s garden, mayo and a couple of slices of fresh grainy bread.

STEP 2: Grate equal quantities of carrot and cheese and chop up some parsley. Don’t be stingy – you want a big heap on your sandwich. Mix in a bowl with a squirt of mayo – you don’t need too much mayo, just enough to gloop it together a bit, but you don’t want it to be too overpowering.

STEP 3: Put grated mixture on bread (with a little butter if you like!)

STEP 4: EAT IT!!

Yum. It always makes me feel so good!

A couple of shots of O at the park this morning…love the bed hair spiking out the back in the second photo – have never experienced messy hair with Oscar before…must finally be growing! Don’t know how we are going to cope when we actually have to start washing and styling it!

Dream bedroom

So, this has been my dream for redecorating my bedroom for the last few months…

My bedroom themes is black and white with a touch of pink. On my new white bed (with a super comfortable plush mattress!) I want white sheets and black european pillow cases. A beautiful black and white doona cover with matching pillow cases – something big and swirly or funky paisley designs. Scattered over the top I will make funky black, white and pink cushions of all different shapes and sizes and throw a beautiful home made black, white and pink quilt at the end of the bed. A big bed box at the end of the bed will hold extra blankets and look after the cushions when they are not being used on the bed. Then I will have 3 big canvas paintings on the wall above my bed. Not sure what of yet…but something black, white and pink of course!! Perhaps some cool birds and swirls. On the two little bedside tables I want white lamps with black trim.

I think that is about it – cool, huh? I am in the preparation stages and not going to put it into practise until we have a new house and decide where we are going to live next year and then (in my dreams) buy all new furniture for my bedroom!!!!!
