Oscar has started a fixation with trains…he loves to hear them and see them and watch them on TV. Any toy or egg carton or box is a train, choo-chooing around the house. So today we decided to take him on a train ride. We went on the Don River Railway in Devonport, it was cute, he had such a fun time and was so excited and overwhelmed by it all! Was talking about Thomas the whole way and saying “choo-choo” and pointing at things out the window.
This morning before we left for our train adventure, Jaron and Oscar made a train for Oscar to play in out of this box!!!And yes, due day is today for me…still nothing 🙁 but it can’t be too much longer.
We awoke this morning to a beautiful downpour of rain…perfect day for staying at home, playing and doing some scrapbooking.
Oscar loves to stand on the windowsill behind the couch and watch the rain come tumbilng down…especially when it turned to very loud hail – he stood there, saying to me “loud raining”.
P.S. To find out about Oscar’s play date yesterday, look here.
I am not a fan of this waiting game!!! Although my actual due date isn’t for another 2 days, we are getting quite sick of second-guessing every little twinge and pain wondering if “its time”! I have been having contractions for about a week, sometimes they get quite regular and painful for a few hours and then just go away altogether. I wish they would either come and stay, or go away – especially in the early hours of the morning when they keep me awake for hours and then just disappear! I am trying to chill out a bit and just let nature take its course and enjoy having some quieter time while it is here! Have been doing lots of scrapbooking and cooking and napping while I have the chance. Today Oscar is having a play at his second cousin, Oliver’s house for the morning. It is the first time that I have left him with anyone other than one of his Grandmothers, but he seemed quite happy when I left, choo-chooing trains around the train tracks! I am having a nice productive time at home cooking some dinners to freeze ready for when the baby is born and catching up on a few things. So…these photos are me at (almost) 40 weeks pregnant…hopefully there won’t be time to take anymore!
Preheat oven to moderate. Line two biscuit trays with baking paper. Using electric beaters, beat butter and sugar in bowl until mixture is light and creamy. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add vanilla, beat until combined. Using a metal spoon, fold in sifted custard powder and flours. Stir until ingredients are just combined and the mixture is almost smooth. Press mixture together with finger-tips to form a soft dough. Roll 1 level tablespoon of mixture at a time into balls. Arrange on trays about 5cm apart. Flatten lightly to 2.5cm rounds. Bake 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
To make Vanilla Cream: Beat butter and essence in small bowl with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add sifted icing sugar and milk gradually; stir until well combined and mixture is smooth. Stand biscuits on trays for 5 minutes; transfer to a wire rack to cool. Spread half the biscuits with filling and sandwich together with remaining biscuits.
